Kent State University

Kent State University is a large, primarily residential, public research university in Kent, Ohio, United States. It also includes seven regional campuses in Northeast Ohio and additional facilities in the region and internationally which are located in Ashtabula, Burton, East Liverpool, Jackson Township, New Philadelphia, Salem, Warren, Ohio with additional facilities in Cleveland, Independence, Twinsburg, Ohio, New York City, Florence, Italy. The university was established in 1910 as a teacher-training school. Initially classes were held in 1912 at various locations and in temporary buildings in Kent. Since then, it has grown to include many additional baccalaureate and graduate programs of study in the arts and sciences, research opportunities, as well as over 1,000 acres (405 hectare) and 119 buildings on the Kent campus. As of September 2017, it is one of the largest universities in Ohio with an enrollment of 39,367 students in the 8 campus system and 28,972 students at the main campus in Kent. It is ranked by the Carnegie Foundation as one of the top 77 public research universities in the US and In 2010, He was ranked as one of the top 200 universities in the world by Times Higher Education.

Notable program •

The College of Technology offers four aeronautics degrees; Flight Technology, Aviation Management, Air Traffic Control and Aeronautical Engineering. • The School of Psychology Program is accredited by American Psychological Association. • The Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silver man School of Fashion Design and Merchandising has programs in Florence, Hong Kong, and New York City. • Kent’s Financial Engineering program is ranked 13th in the Country. • The Hugh Glauser School of Music offers degrees in music education, music performance, music theory and composition, chamber music, and a new minor in jazz studies. The School of Music is one of the few colleges in the US that offer a BM, a MM and a PhD in music education. • Fusion magazine is published twice a year by students in print and on the Internet.

The university sponsors 16 varsity athletic teams who compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the Division I level with football in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Admission requirements: Students entering the graduate program MUST HAVE successfully completed high-level algebra, geometry, and calculus coursework (equivalent to the following Kent State courses: MATH 12002, MATH 12003, MATH 21001).
